Warren Dale Belding of Fairbury, NE passed away December 30, 2017 at the age of 68 from a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 4, 1949 in Odell, Nebraska to Lyle and Deloris Belding.
Warren was baptized on March 22, 1959 in the United Methodist Church in Endicott, Nebraska. He became a member of the church April 14, 1963. While living in Fairbury he transferred his membership to the United Methodist Church in Fairbury, NE.
During his childhood, he lived in Powell, NE and Endicott, NE. He attended Endicott Schools until his junior year when the school closed. Then he attended Fairbury Public High School and graduated in 1968.
Warren was inducted into the United States Army on July 17, 1969. He completed boot camp at Fort Lewis, WA. He received training as a hospital corpsman at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. He served at Plieko, Viet Nam at the 71st Army Evac Hospital for a year. When he returned home he was stationed at Fort Riley, KS for the last six months of his service. After an honorable discharge in 1971, he worked at Endicott Clay Products and at Fairbury Foods. He worked at Fairbury Foods for almost 40 years. After he retired he spent his time working in his yard, fishing, and being an avid Nebraska Sports Fan. Most of all he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was also a lifetime member to VFW and the legion.
Warren was married to Ruth Hood in Washington, KS on December 13, 1969.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Fairbury, his daughter Kimberly and husband Vance Springer of Lincoln, NE, and son Chad Belding and wife Kelly of Imperial, MO, five grandchildren Sabrina, Vayle, and Keaton Springer of Lincoln and Allison and Brayden Belding of MO, sister Jan and husband Jack Brittenham of Lincoln, NE and Bev and husband Robert James of Endicott, NE, brother-in-law Roger Evans and wife Gail of St. Louis, MO, sister-in-law Kaye Wilkens and husband Dwayne Wilkens of Linn, KS and brother-in-law Mike Hood and wife Sandie of Washington, KS, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Warren was preceded in death by parents and sister Cheryl Evans.
Services were Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury with Pastor Doug Griger officiating. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 7 at the Funeral Home. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice in lieu of flowers. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
