Fairbury’s three local financial institutions once again teamed up for their Second Annual Food Pantry Drive, collecting a total of $3,068 of food for the Blue Valley Community Action Food Pantry.

The First National Bank of Fairbury, American National Bank and Union Bank and Trust collected food items at their branches over a two-week period in a friendly competition between the institutions.

The First National Bank of Fairbury took first place in the competition, collecting $1,399 in food and donations. American National Bank took second place, collecting $1,056.50 in donations and food. Union Bank and Trust took third in the competition, raising $612.50 in food and donations.

Because their institutions did not take first in the competition, Danni Starck, Manager at Union Bank and Trust, and Lori Adams of American National Bank spent Tuesday afternoon greeting customers at First National Bank of Fairbury.

“We owe a huge thank you to all of our employees and customers for all of their generosity,” said Tiffany Pfaff of First National Bank. “It’s quite nice to walk away winning two straight years in a row! Being able to work with such thoughtful people is one of the reasons this is so successful, a big thank you goes out to Lori Adams and Danni Starck for all their hard work!”

Starck stated that she is grateful for all of the support shown for Blue Valley Community Action.

“It’s really not about which bank wins or loses, it’s about Blue Valley Food Bank scoring a huge win with food donations,” Starck said. “The competition is just a fun way to make it happen!”
