Cyclists from near and far gathered at Jefferson Community Health & Life on Saturday morning, excited to kick off the ninth annual Fairbury Cycling Tour, taking them on a sight-seeing adventure through scenic Jefferson County.
The cyclists had a number of routes to choose from, ranging in length from 12 miles to 70 miles, taking them by Endicott, Jansen, Steele City, Harbine and even crossing into Gage County near Odell. Jackie Gregory, who organized the event, explained that there were a total of 36 people who registered for the tour. She stated that this event has become more and more popular over the years.
“I’ve always liked biking, so it just came about as an idea to organize a cycling tour,” said Gregory. “It’s a way to get people interested in biking and staying healthy. We just went out and designed a route. This year, we had 36 people pre-register, which is one of the highest numbers we’ve had.”
