It was an exciting day for the Fairbury Elite 18s as they won two major games at a national tournament in Wisconsin, advancing to play again Saturday morning.
In the first game of the day, the team went head to head with Bloomingdale Blast, gaining an easy victory in five innings with a final score of 15-1. Then, the Fairbury Elite faced off against the Denmark Dukes, a team that defeated the Elite on Wednesday. The Dukes took an early lead against the Elite 2-0, but Fairbury’s girls stepped up their game and claimed the lead 3-2. The Fairbury Elite 18s held off the Dukes to claim a victory with a final score of 5-3. They advance in the tournament to play against the Brandon Blaze on Saturday morning. The Fairbury Husker Rehab Softball Team also put up a strong fight on Friday in Arkansas, taking on the Missouri Crushers team to start the day. The game began after a two hour delay, and the Husker Rehab Team claimed victory over the Crushers with a final score of 4-2.
Just after earning a win against the Crushers, the Fairbury Husker Rehab Team took to the field again to face off against the Hotshotz 14 Black. It was a close game that went into extra innings. The Hotshotz 14 Black team took a small lead and claimed victory against the Husker Rehab Team with a final score of 4-3. Since this was a single elimination bracket, the Fairbury Husker Rehab Team ended their run in this national tournament.
