On Saturday afternoon, the Fairbury City Fire Department was called to extinguish a grass fire that broke out near Wheel-N-Deal Auto Sales in Fairbury.

Fire Chief Chief Chris Goeking explained that they received the call at roughly 12:50 p.m. He stated that it was easy for the crew to take control of the fire with the recent rains and because it was a small blaze.

“The green grass really helped us to get control of everything,” said Goeking. “We had a really quick response, and we had the fire out in less than 10 minutes.”
