Mayor Ward Signs Youth Week Proclamation, Fairbury News Now Nebraska NE

On May 8, Fairbury Mayor Homer Ward visited the Fairbury Elks Lodge, signing a proclamation that declares the first week of May as Youth Week.

The Fairbury Elks Lodge has supported youth from around the region in a number of ways, such as hosting hoop-shoot tournaments and even providing scholarships to students who are active in their communities and who have made several academic advances. Ward recognized the achievements of local youth, and encouraged them to continue with a life-long involvement in their communities to help them to grow.

The signing of this proclamation by Mayor Ward comes after Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts signed a similar one, hoping to inspire young people throughout the state with the support of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, encouraging them to help make advancements in the United States through their involvement.
