The Fairbury Police Department will be participating in the Nationwide You Drink & Drive You Lose Crackdown which will be beginning on August 18, 2017 and ending on September 4, 2017. During the period, increased patrols will be made possible due to a grant through the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS). This grant will allow officers to work extra time in order to increase the enforcement of traffic laws and specifically increase patrol for alcohol violations.

The extra time worked by officers will then be paid by the NOHS. With the goal of increasing alcohol violations enforcement, the Fairbury Police Department hopes to decrease the number of accidents in general as well as alcohol related accidents. The Police Department will be taking a Zero-Tolerance stance on all alcohol violations during this time period. At the conclusion of the You Drink & Drive You Lose Crackdown, it is hoped that the DUI rate will decrease and in turn decrease the number of alcohol related accidents. Remember, Don’t Drink and Drive.
