It was a busy day at Fairbury Jr./Sr. High School as 11 students prepared to compete in the upcoming state tournaments.
In a historic season, eight wrestlers qualified for state, and another five reached over 100 career wins. Fairbury Wrestling Coach Derek Garfield explained their achievements this season. Check out the video here:
The eight wrestlers who qualified for state are Austin Barnts-126 lbs, Logan Slater-132 lbs, Anthony Moyer-152 lbs, Damian Green-160 lbs, Jacob Johnson-170 lbs, Patrick Ondrak-182 lbs, Zach Reikofski-195 lbs and Paul Mach-285 lbs.
Three swimmers from also qualified to compete in the state tournament this year. Vice Principal Derek Andersen reviewed all of the work they have put into this season to get where they are. Check out the video here:
The three swimmers are Colton Starck, Mikasa Liermann and RJ Suey.

This year, the Fairbury Police, Fairbury City Fire Department and Fairbury Rural Fire Department did something special for the wrestlers, escorting them from the High School on their way to the state competition.
Citizens and businesses even got into the Jeff spirit, lining the streets as the wrestlers left town, cheering them on with specially decorated signs. Check out the photos here:
