After working hard for the past several months to build Fairbury News Now, Owner Shaun Friedrichsen announced Friday that he is leaving the business behind.
“It’s sad to go, but I know I have a positive future ahead of me,” said Friedrichsen. “I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for all of the support people in Jefferson County have shown me. I will be taking with me many fond memories as I continue to make my way through life.”
Friedrichsen explained that control of Fairbury News Now is shifting to Diane Schutt and Nels Sorensen, Jr., who will implement changes to the site in the coming months and use it to post community news.
“Fairbury News Now was always supposed to be a community-driven publication,” Friedrichsen said. “I hope that in the past year it has helped to shine a positive light on the strong sense of community in Jefferson County. There are a lot of positive things happening here, and I am honored that I had the opportunity to be a part of those changes that are occurring in Jefferson County.”
People who have news articles they would like to have published are encouraged to email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Friedrichsen is grateful for all of the support people have shown to him and Fairbury News Now.
“It’s been a great experience, and I am so grateful that you all have allowed me the opportunity to bring you the full story and to record the history of Jefferson County as it happens,” said Friedrichsen. “I hope to see each of the communities continue down the paths to prosperity and I commend everyone who is taking the time to make a meaningful change in Jefferson County.”
