Fundraising events are being held in July to help two Fairbury Girls Softball teams with the expenses of participating in national tournaments.
Fairbury Elite 18s qualified for the USA Softball 18U National Tournament in Watertown, Wisc. Fairbury Husker Rehab 14s qualified for the USSSA Softball 14U National Tournament in Bentonville, Ark. Both tournaments are scheduled for July 25-30.
“For Fairbury to have two teams going to national softball tournaments is exciting. Our community can support these teams with two events planned for July,” said Lana Likens, president of the Fairbury Girls Softball board.
Teams are holding a raffle, with a grand prize of a $500 meat bundle donated by Farmland Foods of Crete, and many other prizes. Tickets are $5 each and are available from any Elite or Husker Rehab team member. Prize winners will be drawn on July 22 during a coed softball tournament at the Fairbury Cloverleaf Softball Complex.
The Coed Softball Tournament is set for Friday, July 21, and Saturday, July 22, with rain date of Sunday, July 23. It is a double elimination Texas Rules format tournament. Each team must include a minimum of five men and five women. Entry fee is $150 per team. The entry deadline for the tournament is Sunday, July 16.
