They stated the light was red and was about to changed when they heard a noise and saw a 2002 Chevrolet driven by John J. Root came around him and went up on the curb and a 2014 Chevrolet, driven by Jack C. Wesch went up on the median and around the witness to the north. The witness stated that they didn’t see the stoplight when they heard the impact and that they didn’t see when the vehicles impacted. Based on the investigation conducted by the officer, Root was in the south lane of Highway 15 traveling west. Wesch was in the west lane of Highway 15 traveling north. Root’s vehicle collided with the right rear passenger side of Wesch’s vehicle. The collision caused Root’s vehicle to veer off to the northwest, jump the curb and end up on the grass. The collision also caused Wesch’s vehicle to hit and snap off the road sign at the south end of the median, spinning the vehicle back to the northeast, where it came to rest on the median facing west.

Root stated he was westbound on Highway 136, the light was green, and he said he entered the intersection at approximately 30 mph. Root said he didn’t see Wesch’s vehicle until impact, and didn’t have time to react. Wesch stated he was heading northbound on Highway 15, went through the intersection with a green light and felt an impact. Both front and side airbags were deployed. There was $1,000 of damage to Root’s vehicle and Wesch’s vehicle was totaled.
