On Friday night, the Meridian Mustangs stampeded for a victory over the Pawnee City Indians during their last game of the regular season.
In the first quarter, the Indians put six points on the board, but the Mustangs were quick to respond, recovering a fumbled ball just a few plays later and running it into the end zone. A successful two-point conversion gave the Mustangs a two point lead. The Mustangs rallied for another eight points in the first quarter, but the Indians were within striking range as they scored another touchdown just before the end of the quarter.
Meridian kept their momentum from the first quarter going through the second, scoring three touchdowns. The Indians also scored a touchdown and a successful two-point conversion, bringing the score to 30-20 at halftime, Mustangs maintaining their lead.
During the third quarter, the Mustangs showed their strength, scoring 24 points and preventing the Indians from scoring again. In the fourth quarter, Meridian clenched the win over the Indians with another touchdown, bringing the final score to 60-20.
