When you think of fresh shrimp, one place should come to mind: Diller, Nebraska, where Rock Creek Aquaculture opened its doors for business recently, providing quality shrimp to the region.
Scott Pretzer, who founded Rock Creek Aquaculture, is excited to have the business up and running. He looks forward to meeting people who are interested in fresh shrimp and aims to provide only the best in service.
“It feels wonderful to be able to grow these shrimp to market size and to see them do so well,” said Pretzer. “So far, people really enjoy them, and look forward to getting them. All of that is very rewarding.”
On Thursday, the Diller Community Club hosted a ribbon cutting at Rock Creek Aquaculture, taking the time to tour the facility and to learn more about how the shrimp are produced. Pretzer believes there are several opportunities for the business as it becomes more and more popular.
“We’re still a family business; a farm to table operation,” Pretzer said. “We’re going to retail as much right off the farm as we can because the shrimp don’t get any fresher than that. That’s really where this product shines. We think the product, and chefs agree, has a place in restaurants, and that spreads the word of having this product here in Nebraska. We’re going to continue getting the word out. It just takes time and effort.”
People who are interested in purchasing the fresh shrimp from Rock Creek Aquaculture are encouraged to call them at 402-793-5553 or to message them on the Rock Creek Aquaculture Facebook Page. Pretzer encourages people to check out this specialty item found right in Diller and is grateful for the support he has received from the community and customers so far.
“This is going to continue to be a work in progress,” said Pretzer. “We’ve got a facility that’s doing well; the shrimp are doing well. Consumers have been happy with the product so far. I think that it will continue to build and grow from there.”
