Two Rescued From Little Blue River On Friday

At approximately 0737 the 2nd of June 2017, Jefferson County Communications received a 911 call from two subjects that had been kayaking on the river. The kayak had developed a leak and they were stranded on a sand bar. While there one of the subjects developed a medical issue. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival two individuals were located on the sand bar on the south side of the river. Arrangements were made to launch an air boat but prior to that the subjects crossed the river to where Emergency personnel were.

The ill subject was transported to Jefferson Community Health and Life. The other subject was assisted by Emergency personnel in retrieving vehicle keys and was transported to the vehicle All emergency personnel were cleared from the call at 0819 and the subject was to their vehicle at 1011.

Emergency services responding were Fairbury City Fire, Fairbury Rural Fire, Jefferson County Rescue, Jefferson County Ambulance District #33, Fairbury Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
